“Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we’ll ever do.”
― Brené Brown
About Brianna | Psychotherapist (she/her)
Personal Background
My professional passions are rooted in my personal experiences. I grew up quickly as a welfare kid with divorced parents who loved me in the ways they were able to, within the chaos and uncertainty that was our life. I sought comfort and connectedness in people and things that were not good for me - though, I didn’t know consciously that I was doing that. I later masked my struggles in academic and professional achievements, to the point of burnout. As I became an adult, I longed to be the person I always needed. They say your favorite person to work with is a version of yourself. Who am I now? I’m Brianna, a cis-gender, pansexual, therapist, wife, cat mom, friend, daughter, sister, a person diagnosed with complex PTSD, someone who is balancing self-acceptance and growth, and learning about herself via her Self (I will teach you about what I mean) in order to create a values-based life. There are parts of me that love joyful movement, others that enjoy relaxing, spending time with my cats, music (Radiohead is my favorite band), and playing D&D. Through the mind-body approaches that I practice and my own personal therapy over the years, I have been able to work on my relationships with family, cure chronic pain which stemmed from childhood and medical traumas (thank you, Ketamine and IFS), and gain access to an unending amount of open-hearted curiosity and self-compassion. I want the same for you.
Professional Background
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW 94792). I graduated from California State University, Stanislaus in 2013 with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology (with a brief Minor is Philosophy) and received a Masters Degree in Social Work in 2017. I have an extensive professional background which includes working as a behaviorist with Autistic children ages 0-3 years old (of which I have deep remorse for the role I played within the harmful ABA system), a clinician in a locked psychiatric facility for adults, and an Outpatient clinician with children, adolescents, and families within the Medi-Cal system. Within those positions, I learned how to be a good therapist within a broken system. I am a strength-based, person-centered, and compassion focused therapist and ultimately want to empower the people I work with to live the life they want. My therapeutic approaches include Internal Family Systems (Level 1 Trained through the IFS Institute), Brainspotting, Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY), and Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP). I bring in “big sister” energy into my sessions, so you can feel unconditionally cared for.
