    • I understand that yoga, TCTSY, or any somatic movement (hereinafter referred to as “movement”) include physical movements. As the case with any physical activity, the risk of injury, even serious or disabling, is always present and cannot be entirely eliminated. If I experience any pain or discomfort, I will listen to my body, discontinue the activity, and ask for support from the facilitator (if in a live class). I am aware that movement can bring up emotional distress and I have supports in place outside of the facilitator that I can work with when emotions come up. I will assume all responsibility for any and all damages and injuries which may incur through participation. I acknowledge that these offerings are supplemental and are not intended to be a form of or replacement for psychotherapy.

    • Movement is not a substitute for medical attention, examination, diagnosis or treatment. Movement is not recommended and is not safe under certain medical conditions. By utilizing these resources and engaging in these classes, I affirm that a licensed physician and a licensed clinician or psychologist has verified my good health and physical condition to participate in such a program. In addition, I will make the facilitator aware of any medical conditions or physical limitations before live classes. If I am pregnant or become pregnant or I am post natal or post surgical, my engagement and utilization of the resources verifies that I have my physicians approval to participate. I also affirm that I alone am responsible to decide where to practice movement and my participation is at my own risk. I here by agree to irrevocably release and waive any claims that I have now or may have hereafter against Brianna Bossard, LCSW - In Waves Therapy and Movement.

    • I understand that others who participate in the live classes will see my username and picture/video, and vice versa. I agree to respect the privacy and confidentiality of all participants in the groups and will not share other participants’ information with anyone outside of the class.

    • I understand that utilizing these resources, whether pre-recorded or live, does not guarantee privacy or confidentiality. I acknowledged that I do not have to utilize my camera in live classes and that the participants need to be muted.

    • I understand that if no participants show to the live class within 15 minutes, then the class will end. However if a single participant is present, then the class will start within five minutes of the scheduled time.

    • I take the responsibility to confirm that I am donating the amount I intended to donate before initiating the donation, and that there are no refunds. I can access the resources for free [if I choose]. I am welcome to donate in any amount or frequency that I’d like.

    • I agree that I am of legal consenting age or I have permission from and supervision of my legal guardian.

    • I have read and fully understand and agree to the above terms. I am consenting to this agreement voluntarily and recognize that my utilization, engagement, and participation serves as complete and unconditional release of all liability to the greatest extent allowed by law.

✺ Frequently asked questions ✺

  • TCTSY is the first yoga-based empirically validated, clinical intervention for complex trauma or chronic, treatment-resistant post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

TCTSY is an evidence based, adjunctive modality, specifically for people with complex trauma. It uses a hands off approach - meaning no physical assists from facilitator. TCTSY encourages exploration of your own shapes - choices to decide how you would like to move. It is adjunctive with psychotherapy. It has its foundations in trauma therapy, attachment, neuroscience, and based in Hatha Yoga.

Furthermore, Trauma-Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga is centered on these five core principles:

    • Invitational Language - each cue is preceded by an invitation, there are no demands or expectations

    • Choice Making - the choice begins whether to do the movement or not

    • Interoception - this the opportunity to explore the possibility of physical sensation at any given time during the practice

    • Shared, authentic experience - a safer space is held by the facilitator and those practicing, with the understanding that there is no right or wrong in TCTSY

    • Non-coercion - an environment is created to support re-discovery and empowerment of those who are practicing

You could read and watch more here.

    • No hands on assistance, the facilitator does not walk around the class, there is less direction in regards to what the form looks like and less focus on holding and maintaining a form.

    • Trauma-Informed Yoga requires no mandatory training nor does it have a regulatory body. As a result, this term can be used and classes can feel different (ex. some may involve hands on assists). On the other hand, TCTSY is governed by the Center for Trauma and Embodiment, and must adhere to the guidelines of the pillars of TCTSY, which will result in more consistent and predictable expectations of classes.

    • TCTY facilitators complete a 300hour training program for 6 months that involves supervision and learning about the structure of the program and focusing on trauma theory, attachment style, neurobiology

    • Another difference is that as Brianna is a Licensed Psychotherapist (Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW); TCTSY with her might be covered by some insurances, so be sure to check with your provider.

  • Yes, there have been evidence based studies primarily with folks who have Complex PTSD

You can find some of the research here.

  • Anyone in the world may join the live classes so long as they have been cleared by their doctor and/or therapist to do so. If a person is considered a minor where they live, it is required that they receive permission from their legal caregiver/guardian before joining the classes. Participation in the classes assumes these requirements have been met on an honors system.

  • When not using the donation-based classes, the cost is higher than a yoga class as this can be a clinical intervention and not a fitness class.

  • There is no previous experience needed. The goal here is not to master yoga form, but for participants to explore the possibility of having a body and making choices with and for their body.

  • During the class there is always choice making for participants to choose how they want to move.

  • Live virtual classes will be held via GoogleMeet. If you’d like to join, you will click the link in the Live Class section on this page and that will take you to the GoogleMeet class. There you will see the facilitator. The facilitator will have all participants muted. It is your choice to have your camera off or on. The facilitator will then introduce themself and begin the practice after a few minutes to provide time for participants to show up. The practice can range from 30 minutes to 1 hour, you are welcome to stay as long as you’d like. When the practice concludes, the facilitator will remain present for 10 minutes for feedback however, there is no group processing in these TCTSY classes. It is encouraged that anything brought up physically or emotionally during the TCTSY class be discussed with your doctor or therapist. Please note that the live classes will not be recorded.
